Comparison

DIY vs Professional Cleaning: What’s the difference?

You can rinse light dust from ground level with a gentle hose on a cool day. But deeper cleaning and anything at height should be left to trained specialists. Here’s why:

  • Safety first – Working at height, around live electrical equipment, is risky without training and the right kit. We use fall-arrest systems, rope access/cherry pickers, and strict method statements.
  • Panel protection – No harsh jets, no abrasive pads, no chemicals that can damage coatings. We use soft brushes, purified water and biodegradable soap where appropriate.
  • Warranty compliance – Many manufacturers and installers expect documented maintenance. We provide service reports for your records.
  • Better results – We remove stubborn soiling (bird droppings, lichen, sap) that simple rinsing won’t touch — restoring performance and protecting lifespan.

Question?

Do solar panels really need cleaning?

Yes. As a rule of thumb, plan a clean every 12–18 months to keep panels operating efficiently. Frequency depends on location:

  • More frequent: dry or dusty areas; near trees, farms, construction or busy roads; ground-mounted systems.
  • Less frequent: wetter regions and steep, roof-mounted arrays (rain helps, but doesn’t do a full job).

Tip: If your generation data has dipped, or you can see visible residue, it’s time to book a clean.

Savings

Why Professional Solar Panel Cleaning Pays for Itself

Solar panels are built to turn sunlight into savings. But dust, pollen, bird droppings, traffic film and lichen all block that light. Left alone, performance can slide and warranties can be compromised. At Solaris Clean Energy Co., we keep residential and commercial systems working at their best with safe, eco-friendly, professional cleaning.
